Chris Hughton’s side have had a nightmare start to their Championship campaign as they are winless in five games so far and the pressure is building.
As Nottingham Forest look to bounce back from their poor start, they are looking to bring in a new centre-forward before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Forest are looking at options in the domestic and the foreign transfer talent pool and have identified Guingamp’s Phaeton as a potential recruit.
However, it emerged on Sunday that the Championship club face competition from Ligue 1 club Nantes for the striker’s signature.
And now, Nantes have stepped up their interest in Phaeton by approaching Guingamp with a formal offer, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
The French top flight club have offered to take the 21-year-old loan with an obligation to make the move permanent in the future.
Nantes and Guingamp are said to be in talks over a deal and it appears Nottingham Forest could be in line to miss out on one of their targets.
