The Whites saw a deal for then Swansea City starlet James come apart at the eleventh hour in January 2019, but are now closing in on landing him.

Leeds have agreed to a £25m fee with Manchester United over the permanent signing of the winger on deadline day.

James was put through his medical paces earlier today and is now set to seal a move to the Yorkshire giants.

The 23-year-old along with his representatives have arrived at Elland Road to formalise his deadline day switch from the Red Devils.

Having completed his medical, the final paperwork is being prepared over the Welsh winger’s signing and he should be announced today.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa will finally be able to work with James this term, having been a firm admirer of his qualities over recent seasons.

James started two of Manchester United’s three Premier League games so far this season but Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival meant that they needed to make space in their squad by offloading an attacker.
