With Moise Kean sealing a return to Italian club Juventus, Everton are keen to sign a new striker to provide cover for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Toffees identified former Newcastle and West Brom striker Rondon as an ideal candidate to strengthen their attack and have been in talks over a deal for him.
Everton have been claimed to be looking to take the Venezuela international on a two-year contract to Goodison Park.
And it appears the Merseyside-based club are very close to completing a deadline day for Rondon as the transfer window nears an end.
The 31-year-old is on the books of Chinese club Dalian Professional, but looks set to put pen to paper on a deal with Everton.
Toffees boss Rafael Benitez has been keen to sign Rondon, having worked with the striker at Newcastle and Dalian Professional previously.
While a deal for Rondon is very close, it remains to be seen if Everton will make further additions to their squad before the transfer window slams shut.
