Messi put an end to his long-term association with La Liga giants Barcelona and joined Ligue 1 outfit PSG on a free transfer in the summer, shocking the entire football world.

The Argentina captain’s move from Barcelona to PSG came as a surprise to many and Saviola, who admitted that he never expected the player to leave Camp Nou, was no different.

Saviola, though, has tipped the 34-year-old for success at PSG, who he feels have shown their ambition by making great additions during the recently concluded transfer window.

The former Barcelona forward is aware of PSG’s desire to get their hands on the Champions League trophy and is of the view that Messi can help them do that.

I honestly never expected Leo to leave Barcelona because we all had heard the news that he would continue there“, Saviola told Inside Futbol.

That was said both by himself and by the Barcelona board.

So it was a great surprise, not only for me but for the whole football world.

When he said goodbye to the fans after so many years at the club, he was really disappointed, but in the end, football is like that, a lot can happen.

Now a new chapter has begun for Messi.

I am sure he will be able to succeed at Paris Saint-Germain.

He will also be able to win important trophies in Paris.

Paris Saint-Germain are aiming for the Champions League title and they proved with the transfer of Leo and the other arrivals that they are building a strong side.

So they can achieve their goals.

Messi has put pen to paper on a two-year contract, with an option for a further year, with PSG and it remains to be seen if he can help the side win the Champions League before he leaves.
