James was heavily linked with leaving Goodison Park this summer with new boss Benitez not seeing him playing a key role in his plans this season, but a move never materialised.
The Colombian is yet to feature in a single matchday squad for Everton this season but has returned to training after a period in isolation.
James has insisted that he is ready to give his best on the pitch for Everton and if boss Benitez wants him to play, he is ready to lace up his boots against Burnley in their upcoming top flight clash on Monday.
The 30-year-old stressed that he currently very happy at Everton and is preparing himself physically and mentally to get back to the field whenever his club wants him to.
“I have been coming in for a couple of days now [to train]. I had four days off”, James was quoted as saying in a Twitch stream by Colombian AS.
“[I am] preparing myself in case I have to play. If I am fit and I have to play I have to do well.
“I am progressing in a good way physically and I feel fine.
“Everton play on Monday, if they want to play me I’m fit, I’m looking forward to playing if it’s my turn.
“I’m very happy because the Everton fans have given me a lot of affection, if I have to play I will do it in a good way as always.”
All eyes will be on what kind of a role James will play under Benitez going forward this term.
