The Spain international starred for Liverpool on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp’s men registered a 3-0 victory over Leeds at Elland Road courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mane.

Thiago capped off his performance against the Whites by registering his first assist as a Liverpool player, setting up Mane for the Reds’ third goal of the evening.

Reflecting on Thiago’s performance at Elland Road, former top flight star Crooks explained that he has not been entirely convinced of the midfielder, but admitted that he was impressed with his display against Leeds.

Crooks, who still prefers Jordan Henderson over Thiago, pointed out that the 30-year-old has struggled since arriving in the Premier League, but feels he has been showing signs of his quality recently.

I haven’t been terribly convinced by Thiago since his arrival from Bayern Munich“, Crooks wrote in his BBC Sport column.

He came to Anfield with a massive reputation but he has found the Premier League a different proposition to the Bundesliga.

However, he has shown signs of his class and controlled the midfield against Leeds at Elland Road.

Personally I like the energy and personality of Jordan Henderson as opposed to the cool, calm and composed exterior of Thiago.

But there is no doubt about it – the boy can play.

Thiago found his footing in the Premier League towards the end of last season and now, having registered his first assists for Liverpool, will be looking to kick on at Anfield.
