The Merseyside-based club extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to four games on Monday, beating Sean Dyche’s Burnley 3-1 at Goodison Park.

Burnley took the lead through Ben Mee, but goals from Michael Keane, Townsend and Demarai Gray in the space of seven minutes saw Everton make an impressive comeback and bag three points.

Goodison Park great Sheedy took to social media to express his delight at Everton’s impressive win over the Clarets and hail his former employers’ second half performance.

Sheedy, who was known for his free-kick goals during his playing career, also revealed that Townsend’s long-range stunner reminded him of his own goals.

Great second half performance and deserved win“, Sheedy wrote on Twitter.

Townsend strike one of mine.

Townsend, as well as Gray, was considered an underwhelming signing by many, but he has made an impressive start to life at Everton, scoring one goal and providing two assists from four league games so far.
