The Dutchman left Liverpool to move to PSG in the summer on a free transfer after his contract expired with the Merseyside giants.

Wijnaldum had an offer to move to Barcelona as well but he made a U-turn and joined the French giants in the summer.

The midfielder insisted that PSG are the club that top players want to join at the moment and believes in a way they are like Liverpool when he joined the Reds initially in 2016.

The 30-year-old stressed that at that time Liverpool were building towards having a special team who went on to win the Champions League and the Premier League.

He believes PSG are also kind of in the same stage where they have a special team who want to win the top trophies.

Wijnaldum told French sports daily L’Equipe: “In my eyes, yes [PSG are the place to be].

“It reminds me of Liverpool when I joined. Liverpool were building to win the Premier League.

“And here, I have arrived in a team who are built to win something.

“I said to myself – this is going to be huge.”

PSG are expected to be a shoo-in to win the Ligue 1 title, but winning the Champions League remains the Holy Grail for the club.
