Seventh-placed Tottenham are set to host London rivals and European champions Chelsea at home in their fifth Premier League match of the season on Sunday.

The north London giants go into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace, while Chelsea will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in the league.

Tottenham will also be without Japhet Tanganga, who received a red card against Crystal Palace, while Eric Dier is likely be sidelined for the game and Thompson fears the worst for Nuno’s side.

The former Liverpool star, who is an admirer of the way Thomas Tuchel changes his team, admitted that he worries for Tottenham against Chelsea and expects the visitors to win the game comfortably.

Tanganga got sent off, so he is not going to be available“, Thompson said on the Where’s Jeff podcast.

Then you’ve got Dier, who was injured, came off early, I wouldn’t think [he] would be available.

It would be miraculous if he is, so they are short of defenders anyway.

I think against this Chelsea side, I see enough in them.

I know Villa played very well, they weren’t probably at their best, but they still now find a way, this Chelsea team.

He [Tuchel] can mix it up, he can go three at the back, four in the middle, three up front, he can go four at the back.

“I like the way how Tuchel changes his team.

I worry for Spurs, with having those two defenders missing, I do worry how they are going to shape up, what they are going to do.

I do fancy a comfortable Chelsea victory.

While Thompson expects Chelsea to beat Tottenham comfortably, it remains to be seen if Nuno’s side can shock the doubters and hand the Blues their first defeat of the season on Sunday.
