Guardiola called Hasenhuttl’s Southampton side dangerous and expressed his belief that the Saints play in a similar style to the English champions.

The two sides are set to meet this weekend in the Premier League, with Southampton coming into the game looking to score their first victory of the season.

Hasenhuttl expressed surprise at receiving praise from Guardiola before their meeting as he thinks normally the Citizens boss only complements his opponents after his side have defeated them.

The Saints boss is eagerly looking forward to the game against Manchester City as he thinks the games against the Citizens are always good affairs.

“That’s nice”, Hasenhuttl said in a press conference ahead of the game against Manchester City regarding Guardiola’s praise.

“You normally only get the warm words once he has beaten you so it’s nice to get them before the game.

“I am looking forward to it.

“They are always good games, against Pep.”

Having beaten RB Leipzig in midweek and being on a three-game winning streak in the Premier League, Guardiola’s side will be heading into the match looking to extend their good run.
