West Ham opened their first foray into the Europa League group stage brilliantly by beating Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 away from home on Thursday night.

The Hammers are looking to relish their European campaign and are eyeing reaching the last 16 of the competition at least this season.

But Jordan stressed that Moyes is not just happy to be in Europe this season and is certain that the West Ham manager is constructing a squad that will regularly play in European football.

He conceded that it is normal to see some Premier League sides struggle in Europe as they find it difficult to balance it with their domestic commitments, but feels Moyes is dragging West Ham towards becoming a team who can play on the big stage consistently.

Jordan said on talkSPORT: “This West Ham team is a directly relatable product to David Moyes more so than any other manager.

“He is not just pleased to be in Europe, he is building a team to be in Europe.

“A lot of teams who get into Europe, and are secondary teams, look at it as a little bit of a chalice because they are going to use their squad differently than previously.

“Most sides find themselves compromising the domestic league but he is on full throttle.

“He sees West Ham as a project with a huge opportunity in it and he is going to drag it kicking and screaming, which means the owners will be hanging on to his coattails.

“What a place to be.”

West Ham will look to get over their European elation soon as they will be hosting Manchester United at the London Stadium on Sunday.
