Forest have been looking for a new manager since they sacked Chris Hughton last week following a horrendous start to the season that saw them lose six of their opening seven league games.

Cooper emerged as the top contender to become the next Nottingham Forest boss early in the process, but agreeing on a compensation package with Swansea was expected to be a tough negotiation.

The two clubs worked out an agreement over the weekend with Forest agreeing to pay a fee of £1.2m to Swansea.

And it has been claimed that a deal is also in place between Cooper and Nottingham Forest for him to become the next manager at the City Ground.

The 41-year-old has given his nod to the agreement and will become the successor to Hughton at Nottingham Forest.

An announcement is expected to be made soon with Nottingham Forest set to make the appointment official today.

Cooper left Swansea in the summer by mutual consent and is now ready to come back to management in the Championship.

Forest won their first game of the season last weekend when they beat Huddersfield away from home.
