Although Rodrigo had to miss chunks of the last Premier League campaign through injury and illness, he finished the season strongly, chipping in with assists and goals

However, the Spaniard is struggling to replicate that form this term as he is yet to make a direct goal contribution in four league starts.

Leeds legend Dorigo is of the view that Rodrigo at times is occupying a position that is deeper than he needs to on the pitch, which is hindering his performance.

Dorigo explained that Rodrigo needs to find spaces closer to striker Bamford in the final third, which will be beneficial for both of them and help him regain his form.

“Rodrigo came with a big price tag, then he was in and out and it was difficult for him to find rhythm but at times last season he was fantastic”, Dorigo wrote in his Yorkshire Evening Post column.

“He hasn’t started this season like he finished the last one, but Bielsa trusts his players, he sees them day in, day out on the training ground and has proven so many times that they can come good. Rodrigo could be one of those.

“Sometimes when he tries to find his form, he plays five or 10 yards deeper than he needs to.

“What he really needs to do is find spaces closer to Patrick Bamford.

“When that happens both can benefit.”

Leeds are set to host West Ham United in a top flight clash at the weekend and Whites fans will be hoping Rodrigo will find his from soon, with the club still searching their first league win of the season.
