The 23-year-old joined League One club Sunderland on a season-long loan deal from Everton in the summer with a view to getting first team experience under his belt.

Broadhead helped the Black Cats progress into the round of 16 of the EFL Cup on Tuesday, scoring in the side’s 2-0 victory over League One rivals Wigan Athletic.

Having helped Sunderland progress in the competition, the Everton loan star wishes to face the Toffees’ arch-rivals Liverpool at Anfield in the next round.

Asked who he would like to face in the next round of the EFL Cup, Broadhead told SAFC TV: “I’d like Liverpool at Anfield, that would be great.

With Sunderland sitting second in League One and progressing into the final 16 of the EFL Cup, Broadhead feels there is positivity around the club and stressed the need for the team to feed off that.

Everyone is positive, even the fans are positive“, Broadhead said.

So, all we can do is feed off that and perform.

Like Sunderland, Liverpool progressed into the round of 16 of the EFL Cup on Tuesday, beating league rivals Norwich City 3-0 at Carrow Road.
