Leeds made it to the fourth round of the EFL Cup for the first time under Marcelo Bielsa when they beat Fulham on penalties at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night.

The Whites showed their quality in the first half but failed to take their chances and that allowed Fulham to build real pressure on the Premier League side after the break.

Dorigo conceded that Leeds’ passing was off the radar in the second half and feels that is a lot to do with the fact that a largely changed side took the pitch compared to the players that usually feature in the Premier League.

But the former White is delighted that the players on the pitch stayed in the game and took it all the way where they finally managed to nick the third round game on penalties to progress in the competition.

Dorigo said on LUTV: “It wasn’t the easiest of games, certainly in the second half.

“In the first half, after a poor first five to ten minutes when Fulham started well, I thought we started to play well.

“We had one or two chances, we didn’t take them but after that, it got really difficult.

“Our passing wasn’t the best but I suppose that was to be expected with how many different players we had starting to the game.

“But they all stuck to their task and in the end, came through it well.”

Leeds are still waiting for the first win of their league season ahead of hosting West Ham at Elland Road on Saturday.
