The Bramall Lane outfit acquired the services of the 26-year-old defender from Premier League side Liverpool on loan until the end of the season in the summer transfer window.

Having suffered relegation from the Premier League last term, Sheffield United are keen to earn their way back into the top flight and are hopeful that Davies can help them in their efforts.

The Liverpool loan star is also looking forward to taking up the challenge of fighting for promotion as he has revealed that he joined the Blades as he wanted to test himself at the top of the second tier.

Davies pointed out how he earned significant Championship experience with Preston North End, but is keen to help Sheffield United, who he feels have a top manager in Slavisa Jokanovic, in their push for promotion.

I’ve got a lot of Championship experience but not a lot at the top end, and I wanted a challenge“, Davies told a press conference.

I saw United had a top manager and kept a lot of their players, and they also wanted me as well.

The former Preston centre-back is aware of the difficulty of the Championship, but is hopeful of helping Sheffield United earn promotion this season.

We know the Championship’s a tough relentless league and we’ve done well in the last few weeks to get on a positive run, we need to continue it because the start we had, we need to be picking six or seven points up a week“, the defender said.

The target is still to get promoted back to the Premier League.

Davies will be hopeful that his performances with Sheffield United will earn him a place in Jurgen Klopp’s plans for next season.
