The Hoops bounced back from their 4-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League with a narrow 2-1 win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Going into the final ten minutes of the game, it looked like Celtic and Aberdeen could be in line to share the spoils, but Montgomery set Jota up in the 84th minute to ensure the visitors went home with the three points.

Former Scottish top flight star Dalziel, who has been impressed with Montgomery this season, hailed the composure with which he assisted Jota for Celtic’s winner.

Dalziel admitted that Montgomery’s form is likely to drop being a young player, but pointed out how he stood up to the test despite being thrown into a pressure pot at Pittodrie.

Near the end of the game, he gets into a great position, there is composure from the young lad [to find Jota for the winner]“, Dalziel said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard.

I like Montgomery, every time I have watched him with Celtic, whether it is coming off the bench or starting a game, he has always been very good for me.

Of course his form is going to dip, he is a young player, he is coming into a pressure pot, especially with Celtic going up to Pittodrie, question marks if they lose then they are in the bottom six.

You’re going against Aberdeen, who have got good players, Pittodrie a hard place to go to and I thought he stood up to the test.

I’m delighted to hear the manager give him a bit of praise, the boy will be delighted with that.

Having helped Celtic to a win over Aberdeen at the weekend, Montgomery will be hopeful of establishing as a valuable option under Ange Postecoglou this season.
