Rudiger became surplus to requirements under Frank Lampard at Chelsea last season, but he was transformed under Thomas Tuchel in the second half of the campaign.

He played a key role in Chelsea’s Champions League-winning team but is currently engaged in a contract saga with the Blues.

The defender will be out of contract at the end of the season and Rudiger wants his new deal to reflect his importance in the squad.

Bayern Munich are interested in signing him next summer on a free transfer and he conceded that interest from the German champions is flattering.

He stressed interest from the Bavarians is a reflection of his form and his performances for Chelsea in recent months.

“Their interest honours me”, Rudiger was quoted as saying by Bild.

“It shows that I have done a few things right recently.”

Rudiger wants to become one of the highest-paid players at Stamford Bridge and feels Chelsea should hand him a deal to reflect his importance.
