Werner has started three of Chelsea’s opening seven league games but has not played a single minute of football in the Champions League this season.

The German has scored just twice this term and it was expected that his opportunities would dwindle once Romelu Lukaku joined the club in the summer transfer window.

He is no longer a regular starter at Chelsea and Werner indicated that he is not happy as he wants to play more football and be more important at a big club.

However, the forward stressed that he is not going to angle for a move if he does not get a certain amount of games and will definitely look at the bigger picture before making any decision.

Werner was quoted as saying by German outlet Fussball Transfers: “Of course I can’t be satisfied if I don’t play. Of course, I want to be a regular player in a big team.

“But I am not saying that I really want to be leaving if I don’t play ten or 15 games before Christmas.

“Things happen relatively quickly in football.

“I have to look at the bigger picture to make my decision.”

Werner has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich as Julian Nagelsmann remains a firm fan of the attacker who he had at RB Leipzig.
