Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi held a meeting with Bruce at Newcastle’s training ground on Monday on behalf of the club’s new ownership.

While the three are said to have talked for around an hour, a definitive decision regarding Bruce’s future at St. James’ Park was not taken.

However, the former Manchester United defender is still expected to be sacked as Newcastle manager in the next 48 hours.

One factor that could hold up Newcastle’s decision to relieve Bruce of his duties is first team coach Jones’ stance over potentially taking charge as the caretaker boss.

The former Luton Town manager is not sure if he wants to take over as Newcastle’s caretaker boss should the new owners pull the plug on Bruce.

It seems unlikely Jones would refuse to step in as the caretaker manager if the owners want him as Newcastle continue their search for a new boss.

Former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre and former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard are under consideration by the Magpies.
