The Toffees are set to return to the pitch on Sunday following the international break as they gear up to host David Moyes’ West Ham at Goodison Park.
Everton are going into Sunday’s clash looking for their fifth win in eight games, while West Ham will be looking to bounce back from their shock loss to Premier League new boys Brentford.
Both the Toffees and West Ham have ambitions of sealing a top six finish this season and Ball sees the capital club being in close proximity with the Merseyside giants in the league table throughout this season.
The ex-Everton star explained West Ham have similar targets to those of Rafael Benitez and as such the upcoming clash at Goodison Park will serve as a good marker as to where the home side are.
“It [West Ham clash] is a massive game because this is a team who will probably be sniffing around us for most of the season and we’ve probably got similar targets”, Ball wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.
“To be honest, I’ve expected us to get the points to put us where we are but this is a good marker as to where we actually are.
“We’ve had moments in which we’ve struggled at times but we’ve had the desire and the game management to come through.”
Everton have won all three of their home games so far this season and will be determined to extend their run come Sunday.
