Newcastle are expected to sack Steve Bruce as manager within the coming days and kick off the search for a new boss to lead the club into a new era.

A number of managers have been linked with the post at St James’ Park, including ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and current Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

However, Newcastle could look abroad and highly rated German tactician Rangnick wants the job.

It is claimed that Rangnick, 63, dreams of managing in the Premier League and wants the post at Newcastle.

Rangnick has regularly been linked with Premier League sides, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, in recent years.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle will feel that Rangnick is the man to lead the club forward, especially in the short term as they try to plot a path out of the Premier League’s relegation zone.

The German is currently employed in a development role at Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow.

Newcastle are next in action this coming weekend when they lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League game.
