Sterling has been on Barcelona’s agenda since last summer and they made a late attempt to sign him in the last transfer window.

The England attacker is looking to find a way out of Manchester City and a move to Barcelona appeals to him given where he is in his career.

Barcelona are struggling financially and are currently trying to convince Dembele to sign a new deal with the club.

And according to Catalan daily Sport, if the Frenchman continues to resist signing a new deal, the Catalan giants will look to try and sign Sterling in the winter window.

Barcelona want to bring in an attacker in January and the Manchester City star is considered a top target.

But their financial limitations mean a deal is dependent on Manchester City agreeing to accept a loan offer for Sterling.

Barcelona do not have the funds to sign him on a permanent deal in the winter transfer window at the moment.

They are prepared to include an obligatory purchase clause to coax Manchester City into agreeing to loan the attacker out in January.
