The 24-year-old winger has had a disrupted start to the season and only recently returned to the first-team squad following a spell out of the team due to an ankle injury.

He started the first three Premier League games of the campaign but is now working hard to find a way back into the team after recovering from his injury.

The Dutchman is expected to start in the Europa Conference League game against Vitesse on Thursday night and he conceded that he is far from being at his best at Tottenham.

Bergwijn admits that last season was hard for him but he is confident that with more game time, Spurs will soon get to see what he can do when he is at his best.

The winger said in a press conference: “No, I don’t think [you’ve seen the best of me].

“I know I have more.

“Last season was difficult for me but this season started positively and then I got the injury.

“But I kept the confidence from the staff and you will see the best of me soon.”

Bergwijn has scored just four times in 56 appearances for Spurs and has only nine assists to his name.
