Goals from Andreas Christensen, Jorginho and Kai Havertz helped Chelsea to score a resounding win over Malmo in their Champions League group game.

The Swedish side never looked like being in the game during the 90 minutes and Chelsea were in cruise control and could have made the scoreline even more embarrassing for Malmo.

Christiansen conceded that he cannot explain much about his side’s performance as the gulf in quality between the two sides was too vast and was a reality check for a number of players wearing the Malmo colours.

He admitted that losing in such a manner is never enjoyable but stressed that his side have to accept that Chelsea were a few levels above where Malmo are.

The Malmo skipper told Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen: “There is not much to say.

“It is clear they have fantastic quality and we really see the difference between the best in the world and us in domestic football who think we are good footballers.

“Of course, it’s frustrating.

“We do not think it is fun to lose again, but we must admit that at this level we maybe need a little more luck if we are to get points.”

Chelsea did leave the game a bit concerned due to injuries to both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.
