The Glasgow-based club extended their unbeaten run in the Scottish Championship to four games with a 0-0 draw against Greenock Morton on Tuesday.

While Partick Thistle were not able to return from Greenock Morton with the three points, Rangers loan star Mayo and his fellow defenders shone for the team on the night.

Partick Thistle boss McCall has expressed his delight at the back four’s performance on Tuesday and reserved special praise for centre-back pairing Mayo and Tunji Akinola.

The former Rangers star explained that Mayo and Akinola looked solid for Partick Thistle on the night, while also doing a lot of dirty work for the side.

The back four did well again; we’re very happy with how they’re doing at the moment“, McCall told Thistle’s website.

Again Tunji and Mayo looked solid and they had to do a lot of the dirty side of the game tonight.

Everyone gave their all and they were throwing their bodies in for blocks so we can’t fault their commitment, we were just disappointed with the lack of attacking intent.

Mayo, who joined Thistle on a season-long loan deal from Rangers in the summer, has established himself as a regular starter for the side, making ten Championship appearances so far.
