Poveda, who joined Blackburn on a season-long loan deal from Leeds in the summer, scored his first goal for the club against Sheffield United on Saturday.
The 21-year-old also provided an assist in Rovers’ 3-1 victory over the Blades and was rewarded for his performance by being named man of the match.
Expressing his delight at scoring his first goal for Tony Mowbray’s side, the Leeds loan star explained that it was a very special and emotional day for him.
Poveda also revealed that he dreamed of scoring for Blackburn and winning the man of the match award the night before the game before hailing Rovers’ performance against Sheffield United.
“It was a very special day for me, very emotional“, Poveda told RoversTV.
“To score, assist and get Man of the Match, it’s a moment that I dreamed of the night before, thankfully it came true.
“The team was outstanding against a great side.
“The lads did amazing to bounce back from the midweek defeat to Fulham.
“We stuck at it, the manager had faith in us and was driving us on.“
Having scored his first goal for Blackburn, Poveda will now be looking to build on the momentum and add more contributions to his tally.
