The 26-year-old forward has hardly featured for Liverpool this season and has made two appearances from the bench in the Premier League.

Liverpool were open to offers for him last summer but no club showed any inclination to meet the club’s asking price for the Belgian.

Ahead of the January transfer window, Newcastle are interested in signing Origi on loan and helping him rejuvenate his career on Tyneside.

But it has been claimed that Klopp is in no mood to lose the forward in January and will shut down any attempts to take him to St James’ Park.

He is currently behind Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino in the attacking pecking order at Liverpool.

But Salah and Mane will leave for the Africa Cup of Nations at the end of December and Firmino has been struggling with injury.

Klopp does not want to lose another forward in January when his team are scheduled to play six Premier League games and are in the FA Cup.

Newcastle want Origi on Tyneside in January but for the moment, it seems Liverpool are unlikely to play ball.
