Everton have slipped down to 14th in the league standings following a disappointing loss away at Brentford on Sunday.

The Toffees last won a top flight game back in late September and are now gearing up to host arch rivals Liverpool in the Merseyside derby; the Reds come into the game with only one loss to their name in 13 outings this season.

Toffees midfielder Doucoure has stressed the need for Everton to get a win against Liverpool as it could be huge boost to the club and the fans and will help them get their season back on track.

Doucoure admitted it has not been easy for Everton on the pitch in recent months but stressed the huge role the Everton faithful will play when their team take on Liverpool.

“I was in great form [before injury] but I have come back in a difficult moment and have to do everything in my power to help the team”, Doucoure told Everton’s official site.

“That is what I am working for – we have a big game on Wednesday to get back on track.

“We need a result in the derby and if we can have it against Liverpool, it will be great for the fans and we can come back and have a strong run.

“I have never played a derby with the fans and they will very important for us.

“It is not so easy for us at the moment but we need them and can have a great result on Wednesday.

“We know the fans are demanding more, that is normal, you play for Everton and have to get results.”

New Everton boss Rafael Benitez is under a lot of pressure to deliver a result against his former team after a string of disappointing outings, while Liverpool are coming into the clash in search of three points to further their title bid.
