The Frenchman’s future at the Camp Nou is under the scanner as he is yet to commit to a new deal at the club with his current contract expiring next summer.

New Barcelona coach Xavi sees Dembele playing a big role under him and the club have made him an offer to extend his stint, although so far they have been unable to reach an agreement.

The 24-year-old’s situation at Barcelona has seen him attract interest from abroad and Newcastle have already held talks with his entourage to propose a lucrative contract, while he is also claimed to be in line to receive an even better offer from another Premier League club.

As it stands Dembele is allowed to enter pre-contract negotiations with potential suitors in January, however Barcelona are against the idea of seeing him leave for free next summer.

And according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana hierarchy want an answer from Dembele about his future plans before 15th December.

Barcelona have given Dembele two more weeks to decide whether or not he wants to put pen-to-paper on the contract extension they have handed him.

The winger is claimed to be warm to remaining at Barcelona beyond the current season but his agent is suggested to be pushing for an exit.

It remains to be seen where Dembele will end up playing next season with the likes of Newcastle keen to snap him up for free next summer.
