The 21-year-old centre-back is a highly-rated young defender and several clubs are interested in getting their hands on the Dutchman.

Ahead of the winter transfer window, there is speculation over his future and he is believed to be Newcastle’s top target for January.

Botman has also been on the radar of Serie A giants AC Milan and the club are interested in taking him to the San Siro.

But according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, the Rossoneri do not have the funds needed to sign him from Lille in the winter transfer window.

It has been claimed that Lille want more than €30m before agreeing to let him go in January or next summer.

AC Milan want to bring in a defender in January due to a season-ending injury to Simon Kjaer but are looking to do a low-cost deal due to financial constraints.

Lille are aware Botman could be snared away from the club due to interest from several teams in Europe.

Newcastle have the funds to do a deal but are currently in the relegation zone and could find it hard to convince the Dutchman to move to England in their current circumstances.
