A 2-1 win against Leicester City on Sunday meant that the Midlands club have won three of their first four top flight games under new boss Steven Gerrard and they are now gearing up for a tip to Merseyside at the weekend.

The Lions will take on second placed Liverpool in their next outing at an Anfield roaring this season with fans filled to the rafters week in week out after hosting matches behind closed doors in the previous two seasons.

Aston Villa defender Konsa has revealed is looking forward to playing at an iconic stadium like Anfield in front of a capacity crowd at the weekend and insists all of his team-mates are also looking forward to the encounter.

Asked whether he is looking forward to playing in front of a full Anfield, Konsa told Villa TV: “Yes, 100 per cent.

“I think all players do.

“Playing at such an iconic stadium in front of their fans and our fans, it will be a great experience.”

Konsa stressed that confidence is high in the Aston Villa camp having registered a win in their latest league outing and says everyone at the club is relishing the opportunity to test their mettle against a top team in Liverpool.

“Preparations have been really good.

“The confidence is high after the win on Sunday.

“We are all looking forward to playing at Anfield.

“We know how much of a good team they [Liverpool] are but we are relishing the challenge.”

Sunday’s clash also marks the return of ex-Reds skipper Gerrard to Anfield for the first time as an opposition manager in a competitive setting and the Lions stars will be determined to make it a memorable occasion for their new boss with a positive result.
