Xavi Hernandez wants to sign a winger as a priority and the Manchester City star has been identified as his top target for Barcelona.

Torres is aware of the interest from Barcelona and is very much keen to move to the Nou Camp to work under Xavi.

He is said to have told Manchester City that he is keen on the move to Barcelona but negotiations between the two clubs are expected to be difficult.

Manchester City have brought down their asking price from €70m to €60m and according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are getting confident about signing the winger in January.

For the moment, Barcelona are prepared to put in €45m to sign the winger from Manchester City next month.

The two clubs are getting closer when it comes to the valuation of the player as Barcelona push to sign him.

Barcelona and Torres are becoming increasingly confident that a deal could be agreed for him to move to Spain in January.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona manage to convince Manchester City to let the Spaniard go next month.
