The 24-year-old winger has been a bit-part player at Rangers this season but with his side already through to the next round of the Europa League, he started against Lyon in France.

Wright grabbed his chance and scored in Rangers’ 1-1 draw at Lyon and showed the quality he can bring to the team when given an opportunity.

Foster is an admirer of what the winger brings to the Rangers team with his pace and believes he can be a frightening prospect for opposition defenders.

The former Rangers defender believes the goal against Lyon could prove to be big for Wright as it will give Van Bronckhorst the dilemma of whether to give the winger a start in the league as well.

Foster said on BBC Sportsound: “He scored a goal, I really like him and he has the pace to frighten defenders.

“His movement is also good.

“When you score in Europe you can feel you’ve made a good case to start more in the manager’s plans.”

Only eight of Wright’s 18 appearances this season in all competitions have come in the starting eleven.
