Phillips has shone in the top flight since Leeds’ return last season and has been regularly linked with a possible exit from the club, talk which has only intensified given the Whites’ struggles.

Liverpool have been credited with interest in signing Phillips as they look to bolster their midfield, having not replaced Georginio Wijnaldum.

Leeds though will not have to try to rebuff interest from Liverpool as the Reds are not interested in Phillips.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is claimed to be happy with the options he currently has in midfield.

Phillips is currently out of action due to injury in what is a blow for a Leeds side battling to put distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

Leeds will be keen to get the midfielder back on the pitch as soon as possible and debate has raged over who can fill in for him.

Phillips, under contract until the summer of 2024, is a key man in Marcelo Bielsa’s system.
