Karius is well down the pecking order at Anfield and has failed to revive his career with loan stints at Besiktas and Union Berlin.

Liverpool do not consider Karius to be part of their plans and, despite having him on a contract running until next summer, are prepared to hand a free transfer to leave next month.

The German shot-stopper could attract extra interest in his services on account of being available on a free transfer.

And a January exit, despite not bringing in a transfer fee, would allow Liverpool to offload his wages from the books ahead of next summer.

The 28-year-old joined the Reds from German side Mainz in 2016, but struggled to make an impact and turned in a disastrous display in the 2018 Champions League final.

He has not played for Liverpool since and is poised to exit the Reds soon.

The goalkeeper has plied his trade in the Bundesliga, the Premier League and the Turkish Super Lig, and it remains to be seen what his next move is.
