The Alex sit second from bottom in League One and will start as big underdogs to get a result against Darren Moore’s Owls.

However, Crewe beat Lincoln City in midweek and Artell feels they have turned the corner with their form and warned that Sheffield Wednesday will not be facing a side with the form that their league position would suggest.

“The way we’re starting to build on what we’re doing is positive”, Artell explained at his pre-Sheffield Wednesday press conference.

“We’ve won three out of the last five. Well, that’s not the form of a team that’s second bottom.

“If we do that for the next 15, 20 games then we’ll be mid-table in no time.”

Sheffield Wednesday have not met Crewe since locking horns in the Championship in 2006 and they went down to a 2-0 defeat on their last visit to Gresty Road.

The size of Crewe’s task though is underlined by the fact that the Owls have not lost a League One game on the road since the start of September.
