Postecoglou rung the changes and introduced several players into his first eleven in order to give his squad a run out in an inconsequential Europa League game against Real Betis.

 

And the Celtic youngsters did not disappoint as they ended their Europa League campaign with a 3-2 win over Real Betis at Parkhead.

 

 

Celtic are worried about injuries to several of their top players ahead of a busy period of games but Bonner feels Postecoglou should take heart from what he saw on Thursday night.

 

The Celtic legend stressed that the youngsters showed that the Bhoys still have a deep squad and the manager should not lose sleep over the strength of the options he has at the moment.

 

 

Bonner said on BBC Sportsound: “These guys have shown they are really good squad players.

 

“Ange Postecoglou has had problems with injuries and we were wondering if he has the strength in depth that he needs.

 

 

“I think these young lads have shown he does.”

 

Kyogo Furuhashi suffered a leg injury midway through the first half and Postecoglou will not want to lose the influential Japanese for any period of time.
