The hitman was snapped up by the Villa Park outfit from Belgian side Club Brugge in 2019, but his career in the Premier League has not gone according to plan.

Wesley hurt his cruciate ligament in January 2020 and took over a year to return to action, then being sent back to Club Brugge on loan last summer in a bid to clock up regular game time and get back to his best.

New Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard looks to have made a decision on the 25-year-old though and the Premier League club want to sell.

It is suggested that Villa are looking for £15m for Wesley.

The Brazilian has interest in his homeland, from Sao Paulo and Palmeiras, but it is unclear if either team would be prepared to meet Aston Villa’s asking price.

He cost Villa a fee of £22m to sign and helped Club Brugge to the Belgian title in 2016 and 2018 as he caught the eye in Belgium.

Gerrard is expected to be active in the January transfer window and selling Wesley would bring in further funds to spend.
