Torres has emerged as Barcelona’s top target, with Xavi Hernandez pushing the club to land the Manchester City winger in the winter transfer window.

The former Valencia winger is keen on the move and is more than willing to return to Spain with Barcelona next month.

But negotiations between Barcelona and Manchester City have been slow and there are suggestions the club are now interested in Inter’s Sanchez.

However, according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, Torres remains the club’s priority for the January transfer window regardless of other targets.

Barcelona want to push on with their efforts to sign the Manchester City star and waiting to hold fresh talks with the Premier League champions.

Manchester City want a fee of €60m, but Barcelona are only prepared to offer €45m for the moment.

However, the difference is not considered to be insurmountable and Barcelona remain keen to sign Torres.

They are also looking at Sanchez and he is on their shortlist, but the Manchester City star remains Barcelona’s top target.
