Following a season in which he was asked to step up in Jurgen Klopp’s senior team with vacant spots opening up owing to injuries, Phillips was handed a new long-term deal at Anfield in the summer.

However, the centre-back is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football for the Reds this season and has largely remained on the fringes of the squad.

The Merseyside giants are looking to move him on in the upcoming window transfer and he has been heavily linked with interest from West Ham and Newcastle.

Liverpool are seeking £15m for Phillips’ signature and it appears interest in securing his services is growing as several Premier League clubs have expressed their interest in luring him away from Anfield.

Phillips is keen to take the next step in his career and wants to play regular first team football, something which he has struggled to get under Klopp as he is down the pecking order.

Liverpool will not stand in Phillips’ way if a potential suitor comes forward and meets their valuation for his services.

It remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old will represent the colours of another English top flight club in the second part of this season.
