Cavani has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the winter transfer window with the club in the market for a striker.

Manchester United are said to be open about letting him go in January and Barcelona have reportedly offered him an 18-month contract to move to Catalunya next month.

Cavani is not against the idea of leaving Manchester United six months before his contract expires and interest from Barcelona has intrigued him.

But according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have not been in touch with the striker or his representatives recently.

Cavani is not a specific request from Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez but he can see the benefits of signing him.

Barcelona are aware that the veteran forward is open to the move in January if an offer is made.

The striker is also aware that the Catalan giants have to make space on their wage bill before they can sign him.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will consider letting Cavani go in January given the recent disruptions in their squad due to Covid.
