The 18-year-old midfielder scored on his debut for Arsenal in their 5-1 win over Sunderland on Tuesday night in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

The teenager has been impressing for Arsenal Under-23s this season and even broke into the England Under-19 squad earlier this year.

He eventually got his opportunity to play for the senior side on Tuesday night and he grabbed the chance with both hands by scoring a goal during his ten-minute cameo against Sunderland.

Arteta stressed that Patino has been becoming a regular feature in training with the first-team, but he wants to be careful and judicious about playing him more.

The Arsenal boss stressed that he is happy with the development he has seen in the youngster.

The Spaniard said in a press conference: “Charlie is with us more and more in training sessions.

“We’ll go slowly from there.

“If we need him we will use him.

“He is making the right steps and we’re really happy with where we are.”

Patino’s next goal will be to make his debut in the Premier League for Arsenal in the near future.
