Alli’s future at Spurs is under the scanner as he has struggled to get back to his best in recent seasons, which has seen his stock fall in the English football scene.

Tottenham are open to letting Alli move on in the upcoming January transfer window, but despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, boss Antonio Conte handed him his first Premier League start under him in their 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

Former top flight star Barnes is impressed with the commitment and effort Alli showed against the Reds and insists he still can save his Spurs career under Conte’s tutelage.

But Barnes stressed that Alli needs to keep on maintaining the same standards he showed against Liverpool week and week out to earn a regular spot under the Italian.

“Dele Alli has life under Antonio Conte or any manager if he puts in the kind of commitment and performance we saw against Liverpool”, Barnes told Bonus Code Bets.

“Dele definitely had a great game, but he needs to be doing that every week.

“One swallow doesn’t make a summer both from his and Tottenham’s point of view.

“But it was good to see his effort and his commitment levels were right where they needed to be, but he has some way to go until he’s doing that on a regular basis for Spurs.

“But he certainly has the talent, and with the right attitude there’s no reason why he can’t revamp his Tottenham career under Antonio Conte.”

The January window will swing open in a week’s time and it remains to be seen whether Alli will be wearing the Spurs’ shirt for the latter stage of the current campaign.
