The 24-year-old defender has made just three first-team appearances this season and none of them came in the Premier League.

His performance at AC Milan has been much-lauded but he wants to play football going forward and is keen on making a move away from the Merseyside giants.

Several clubs in the Premier League such as West Ham are interested in getting their hands on Phillips in January.

And it has been claimed that Klopp is happy to sanction his exit in the winter transfer window if a deal can be agreed.

The Liverpool manager understands Phillips’ need for more football and will not stand in his way.

The Reds have slapped a £15m price tag on the defender and are waiting for appropriate offers to land on their table.

Liverpool are aware of the demand Phillips is in and want to maximise their profit from his sale.

It remains to be seen whether any of his suitors are prepared to match their asking price for the defender.
