Zakaria will be out of contract in the summer and he has so far refused to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga giants as he looks for his next step.

The midfielder will be open to holding talks over a pre-contract with clubs outside Germany from January onwards with a view to a summer move on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old midfielder is on the radar of several clubs and Liverpool are said to be one of the clubs interested in snapping him up at the end of the season.

But it has been claimed that Liverpool’s interest in Zakaria is not as advanced as is being claimed in some corners.

The Merseyside giants have scouted the player but they have not gone beyond that stage.

It is unclear whether Zakaria is on their shortlist of targets and if they are interested in signing him.

The midfielder has other suitors in the Premier League as well where Everton and West Ham are also interested in getting their hands on him.

Zakaria is yet to take a call and he will hold talks with other clubs over the course of the coming months.
