Morelos scored again at the weekend in Rangers’ 2-0 win over St. Mirren, which kept their lead at the top of the league table at six points.

The Colombian has been in serious form for Rangers under Van Bronckhorst and has scored four times in his last five league appearances for the Glasgow giants.

Ferguson insisted that there has certainly been a difference in how Morelos has looked since the Dutchman arrived last month.

He stressed that the forward has looked fitter and sharper inside the box and he looks more comfortable and happy under the new Rangers boss.

The Rangers legend believes in his current form, Morelos is a wonderful asset due to his ability to find the back of the net consistently.

Ferguson said on the Go Radio Football Show: “I have certainly seen a difference since Gio has come in.

“He looks slimmer, he looks fitter, he looks sharper, he is playing with a smile on his face and he is scoring goals.

“And that’s what Rangers and Gio needed, to get him back doing and that’s what he does best.

“For me, when he is in this kind of form he is a top striker, he scores you goals.

“He will frustrate you sometimes, no doubt about it, but to me, he looks to be in a happy place just now and he is doing the hardest thing in the game, which is scoring goals.”

Morelos has 13 goals in all competitions this season and Rangers are hopeful that he will score more in the latter half of the campaign.
