The Hammers’ early season form has tapered off and they have won just one of their last seven Premier League games, raising alarm bells.

Their hopes of finishing fourth have been gradually fading away and the club are now looking to bring in reinforcements in January to arrest the slide.

Signing a centre-back is a priority for David Moyes following injuries to Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma, but the club are also targeting adding more goals to their squad.

And it has been claimed that Moyes is considering snaring Schick away from Leverkusen in the winter transfer window.

Schick has been in red hot form for Leverkusen this season, scoring 16 times in 14 Bundesliga appearances.

He is powering the German side’s bid to finish in the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League.

But West Ham are now considering taking him to the east London club in January in a deal worth £40m.

West Ham signed Czech stars Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal and Alex Kral and now have their eyes on their compatriot Schick.
