The Magpies are keen on reinforcing their defence in the upcoming winter transfer window and have been linked with players across all positions in the backline

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe will be backed in the market next month to boost the club’s chances of survival in the Premier League and PSG’s Kurzawa is among the players they are currently linked with.

The Ligue 1 giants are looking to make space on their books and the left-back is among the names they are willing to move on in January.

However, Kurzawa is at the top of Serie A side Lazio’s transfer wish list, although it has emerged they need PSG to help out with the player’s wages to strike a loan deal.

And according to Italian daily Il Messaggero, the Paris outfit are willing to pay part of Kurzawa’s €4m-per-season-salary to clear the way for a transfer, which may be a blow for Newcastle.

Lazio are now trying to work out the best terms to seal a deal with PSG for the Frenchman.

Matt Ritchie and Jamal Lewis are Newcastle’s current options at left-back and it remains to be seen whether they will push to bring in new players to that position next month.
