Boro boss Chris Wilder is keen on bolstering his attack as he seeks to take the club back into the top flight this season.

Middlesbrough have identified Brighton man Connolly as the ideal man to improve their attack and have reached an agreement with the Premier League outfit to take him to the Riverside on loan for the remainder of the season.

And the Championship outfit are set to seal a deal for Connolly soon as they have scheduled a medical for him today.

The 21-year-old will be put through his paces during a medical in the coming hours and is set to link up with Wilder to kick on with his development in the latter half of this season.

Connolly made four appearances for the Seagulls in the top flight this season, including one start while he scored two goals in the EFL Cup for them.

The striker will be hoping to play league games on a regular basis for Boro and help them seal promotion this term.

Connolly, who has been at Brighton since the summer of 2016, previously spent six months on loan in League One with Luton Town.
